Nasty’s art works are a homage to art in the streets as well as a reflection of his own artistic liberty, in terms of movement, colour, style, imagination and, of course, materials. A new series of subway maps entitled Between The Lines will be exhibited at Kolly Gallery from 13th to 18th April 2020.
Subway maps are where it all started. Indeed, it all started in the NYC subway system in the 1970ies. As one of the few artist Nasty is still following and defending the tradition of graffiti culture. He likes painting these maps because they remind him of his origins. From an aesthetic point of view, they are very inspiring to the artist, because of the graphic layout, the various lines, the different stations and city areas. Even the size is perfect to Nasty.
