Intriguing from the outset, “Color Pills” suggests a captivating addiction – an addiction to the radiancy and vitality of colors. As I observe in the late summer’s vibrant tones, I rediscover them in the masterpieces presented by John ‚JonOne’ Perello, Flavien Demarigny, Solomostry, Louane, Gris 1, Speedy Graphito, and Bruce David.
To understand the profound relevance of these artworks, consider the historical context. Graffiti artists, by nature, are attuned to the urgency of visibility in urban spaces. We’ve mastered the art of crafting eye-catching color and shape compositions to capture the attention of passersby. The artists featured in “Color Pills” possess a remarkable talent for working with unspoken color combinations. Their work challenges the status quo, daring to disrupt and harmoniously reconstruct the interplay of colors.
„ Color is life.“
Tania Di Brita, 2023.
At the heart of it all lies my personal connection. For me, “Color is Life!” I see life as a vibrant painting. There is not only black and white. A colorful canvas transmits emotions uniquely connected to each observer. It can soothe and resonate when it aligns with the observers mood. Unexpected or disruptive color combinations and juxtapositions open minds, igniting inspiration and motivation.
For instance, when I look at JonOne’s painting, I can recognize a different mood and attitude in every painting. Also, I really enjoy his personal comments and experience when producing and explaining each artwork.
When experiencing Bruce David artworks and colorful motifs, I feel the groove, dynamics, and coolness that they express – it gives me always a confident mood.
Louane and his dexterity with colors is just from a different world. His color compositions are rare and unique. Also, these street pieces still have a brutal impact on the viewer. Moreover, I enjoy his philosophical and mindful messages through his paintings and projects.
Solomostry’s monochromatic canvases with his graphic-abstract monsters always catch my attention. Recently his vases make an iconic art object that combines antiquity and urban feel.
Flavien Demarigny’s almost meditative and repetitive strokes series convince though their timeless elegancy. The different colors create a rich and harmonious effect.
Gris 1 playfully engages with motifs, materiality, and colors, always bringing a good mood.
In today’s fast-paced, often turbulent world, where many struggle with stress, loneliness, or global challenges, my suggestion is simple: consider art as your remedy, your “Color Pill.” You might be surprised by the transformative power of art. It’s more than a visual experience – for me it’s a journey, an emotion, and a lifeline.
