L’Inachevement

Steph Cop sculpts so he doesn’t have to speak. It is the mean of expression he has chosen to channel his emotions and his energy. He prefers this language to words, which he does enjoy reading and writing.

Kolly Gallery is presenting the first part of Steph Cop’s triptych exhibition entitled IX. L’inachèvement. from December 6, 2018 to January 5, 2019 in Zurich.

The exhibition is part of a triptych, composed of three exhibitions, the first part is taking place in Zurich, the next parts of the triptych will be in produced in Paris and Lyon in 2019. The whole project is going to be presented in a book that will be published in 2020.

Cette matière brute et organique matrice de la pensée.

Il est le volume emprisonné dans sa gangue, une forme transitoire et déconstruite en perpétuelle évolution.

Une silhouette subtile et énigmatique délibérément interrompue, antonomase de l’esprit.

Il est cette sculpture soustraite et ce mystère qui se révèle à travers elle.

Il est ARO.“

Steph Cop’s sculptural, highly complex and multifaceted body of work has been evolving since 2008 when ARO was a conceptual idea. A.R.O. (acronym for french: Analyse Reflexe Obsessionnelle, engl: Obsessive Reflex Analysis, shortened to “ARO”) is sculpture, a universal work of art, which bears the history of the Morvan forest, where Steph Cop lives and works. Mathematically built on the evolution of each series as arising from its predecessor, ARO is an endless experience.

In this exhibition contains various version of Robur, Copelini, Cube and Columnae Ad Perpendiculum Erectus. All choose terms were specifically developed by the artist and fit in his precise vision of his entire oeuvre.
