The series Mindscapes are based on Mambo’s memories of nightmares in his childhood. Due to the artist’s great interest in the nature of the brain and its functions, it seems obvious that the subject of the dream world is a significant part of it. Despite the anxiety of these dream landscapes, they turned out to be visually very beautiful. Mambo explores his fascination for the human mind as well as its various structures and facets in an artistic manner according to his concept ‚Brainology’. His visual language can vary from figurative to graphic up to abstraction. Referring to this construct, Mambo took his childhood memories as a base of creative exploration, which turned out into mellow as well as minimalistic compositions. Ochre, yellow, red as well as blue to deep black colour shades generously fill the different fields of the compositions. The surfaces of these landscape parts are sometimes curved and dynamic, sometimes straight and clear. All compositions reflect different representations of natural landscapes including; sky, horizon, mountains and water. The paintings of the Mindscapes series are reminiscent of Death Valley National Park, Zion National Park or Malibu.
