A sharp and edgy yet dynamic line style as well as explosive color compositions represent Guillaume ‘MIST’ Lemarquier’s art works at its best. The Kolly Gallery is proud to present the French renowned artist MIST and his solo exhibition entitled Ascendant Cloud. The exhibition takes place from October 27 to November 19, 2016 at the Kolly Gallery in Zurich.

In this show MIST demonstrates his dexterity not only on his technical skills but also in the conceptual elaborated variety of art works. First of all the displayed pieces convince the viewer of the artist’s capability of abstraction and blend of letters along with characters he has been developing over the years of his artistic career. Moreover he surprises with monochromatic as well as black and white compositions.

The exhibition reaches its conceptual climax when the canvases take an art historical twist by appropriating an iconic figure of the classical modernism. 1988 MIST discovers his passion for graffiti by realizing his first piece. Being fascinated by the wild style he ads his own twist with slightly acid and bright colors. Standing out from his competitors 1991 he gets the chance to exhibit with Futura, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat at the Musée National des Monuments Français. Also recognized as pioneer of the so called “designer toys” he designs vinyl toys such as Orus, Malus, Lucius and many more, which get sold allover the world. Rated between the world top five artists’ alongside with Kaws and Futura, MIST nowadays dedicates himself completely on his sculptures and paintings in his studio in Montpellier. The present paintings are at the same time abstractions and fusions of letters, graphic codes and characters derived from his toy productions. The sharp, edgy and clear lines nevertheless remind of his wildstyle pieces in the streets of Paris.
