Zimzalabim – the magic happens from Moritz Green’s studio straight to Kolly Gallery. The mixture of his graffiti roots with graphic and fine art is compelling. The new series entitled Zimzalabim will be on presented from 1st to 5th March 2021.

Moritz Greens art works are no longer graffiti, but he found a way to incorporate his graffiti roots with graphic and pop art inspirations into new artistic creations. Graffiti is reduced to the essentials: highlights, 3D blocks, fill-ins, bubbles, drips, outlines and background. The new geometry, straightness and graphic compositions bring a certain construction and structure to his works. In this series the artist changed a fundamental elements of his artistic practice and – Zimzalabim.

The aesthetic inspirations for this series were Concrete Art, American Hard Edge Painting or Russian Avantgarde. Nonetheless, the artistic process was rather freestyle and not as rigid and constructive as the mentioned art movements. Moritz Green refers to it as „constructed freestyle“.

When creating new paintings Moritz Green’s envisions whimsical surreal situations like, dancing on a blue ball flying around the universe in a big ellipse, or trying to catch a sparking comet, while being drunk or listening to good music and trying to visualize the sound.

For Moritz Green it’s all about the spirit of life. Odd, mysterious, dynamic and vibrant.
