Pink Power – is not only an exhibition title but also a personal statement. Kolly Gallery is proud to present Mad C’s new body of work in Zurich from October 25 to November 25, 2018. Claudia Walde alias MadC is among the most successful female street artists. In this exhibitions she takes the audience on a personal connoted journey.

MadC started with graffiti writing 22 years ago. During this time, she made a name for herself in a male dominated scene. In the first 5 years of spraying in the streets, MadC purposely avoided using the colour pink to make sure no one could guess she is a woman and that her pieces would only be judged by their quality. She has come a long way, stayed true to herself and proudly uses pink in her paintings today.

Pink in all its various tonalities is a very powerful colour to MadC, as it combines the qualities of red and white. Red stands for passion, power and vital energy. White represents purity, openness and wisdom. Thus, the colour pink reflects MadC’s artistic practice perfectly. Besides the predominant color pink, in her new solo show MadC accentuates her roots in graffiti by utilizing drips, splashes and flares. Instead of using graffiti writing in its formal and functional way, she developed an artistic practice based on capturing the energy and expression of it. Although using references to graffiti her signature style and the meaning of her art works has evolved further. The artworks if this exhibition reflect MadC’s own history and her artistic pursuit as a female artist. Away from the need of writing a name, her paintings have become a pure abstract and emotional statement: Pink Power.
