His paintings can be located somewhere between painting and illustration as well as pop art, minimalism and art brut. In other words, his series Nature Morte depicts still lives of mandarines, bananas, tennis balls and basketballs. Similar to Burton Morris, or Roy Lichtenstein, Bruce is inspired by commonplace objects and therefore his art can draw inspiration from any source. Bruce depicts assortments of fruits, sports tools, objects from his studio and water splashes.

His minimal still life paintings incorporate no outlines, minimal shadowing, which emphasizes the visual impact of the color fields and a rather two-dimensional and graphic spatial feeling. The paintings are all based on photographic studies, which keep a realistic point of view. The simplified motifs and the contrasting color fields of his compositions in Nature Morte contrast with each other, so that the content of the images in turn seems cryptic and its interpretation all the more open.
