Bruce translates the speed of graffiti practice into the dynamics of his works – it has to be fast too. The theme of everyday life is at the centre, this time he focuses on the vases at his studio, which inspire him. The vase paintings appear like antique ceramics with inscriptions and references. These references reflect the consumer and entertainment society and bring a lot of amusement and wit into the compositions.
For the first time at Kolly Gallery, besides to the paintings there are also unique ceramic plates and vases. These reflect Bruce’s style completely, adding another level to the interior. The iconic basket-vases are a one of a kind, which the artist hand-casts using a self-built mould. Bruces paintings witness a multilayered use of various materials, such as, air brush, acrylics and oil pastel.

His paintings can be located somewhere between painting and illustration as well as pop art, minimalism and art brut. The genre could be described as still-life. His minimal paintings incorporate no outlines, minimal shadowing, which emphasizes the visual impact of the color fields and a rather two-dimensional and graphic spatial feeling. The paintings are all based on photographic studies, which keep a realistic point of view with somehow distorted perspective and angles. The simplified motifs and the contrasting color fields of his compositions in contrast with each other, so that the content of the images in turn seems cryptic and its interpretation all the more open.
Since 2022, Bruce has been an artist in residence at Nike. In the recent years he exhibited this works in various cities throughout Europe. Not only he works on the canvases, but translates his style on murals and streetwear. Even more David Bruce expresses his creative versatility other mediums including sculptures and ceramics.
