The background of the picture seems to be clouded by transience and the colours are dull, which brings the foreground to the centre of attention. The superimposition of the eclipse – the image and its shadow – is evident in Mist’s abstract line drawings. This seemingly abstract web consists mainly of white and black lines, reflecting the interplay between light and shadow. The artist coloured their overlapping areas grey.
Moreover, the superposition of the two different designs of lines can be interpreted as “only“ abstract or “maybe“ a tag and a sketch of Mist’s renowned evil character. Abstraction is opposed to figuration. The character is opposed to the lettering.
Mist demonstrates his artistic dexterity not only by the deconstruction of letters but also by the subtle representation of his world-famous characters.
